Lipid improvement by reducing cholesterol and increasing HDL in hypercholesterolemia (primary, homozygous familial) and dyslipidemia
This medication is used as an adjunct to diet for reducing elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol, as well as increasing HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It also helps reduce cholesterol levels in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, used alone or in combination with other lipid-lowering treatments. This medication is used when there is an inadequate response to appropriate dietary measures and non-pharmacological interventions for dyslipidemia, and it is important to ascertain any other secondary causes in the patient before administration. Appropriate measures should be taken based on lipid test results, particularly in high-risk patients where risk factors should be considered thoroughly. This medication helps reduce cardiovascular disease risk and improve lipid levels.
This medication is to be administered once daily without regard to meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, the dosage range is from 10/10 mg to 10/80 mg per day. The recommended initial dose is 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg once daily, and if a larger reduction in LDL cholesterol is necessary, an initial dose of 10/40 mg is recommended. After starting treatment or adjusting the dose, serum lipid levels should be checked with at least a two-week interval.
