This drug is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL-cholesterol. It is also used adjunctively in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia when other lipid-lowering therapies are insufficient. This drug plays an important role in lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease and must be used in conjunction with appropriate dietary therapy. Before starting drug treatment, it is important to identify and treat any secondary causes of dyslipidemia, and treatment effects should be monitored through regular blood lipid testing. This medication helps to reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular diseases through safe and effective cholesterol control.
