This medication helps to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. It is particularly used as an adjunct in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or administered when other treatments are ineffective. It is also used in conjunction with an appropriate diet in patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease, and is typically given when dietary treatment alone is insufficient. Before using this medication, it is important to identify and treat secondary causes such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, and to monitor lipid levels in the blood regularly. Overall, this medication plays a significant role in treating dyslipidemia and is used to improve blood lipid levels and protect cardiovascular health.

Patients with a history of alcoholism or liver disease, those with impaired kidney function, elderly patients, and others at high risk of muscle complications should use this medication cautiously and require regular monitoring. Since this medication may cause liver function abnormalities, it is important to conduct liver function tests and monitor for symptoms. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, or jaundice appear, inform a doctor immediately. This medication may elevate blood sugar levels; therefore, patients at risk for diabetes should manage their blood sugar carefully. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication, and women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraception during treatment.
