This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary changes to improve cholesterol and lipid levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It specifically lowers total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels while increasing HDL cholesterol levels to support vascular health. In patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, it is administered as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering treatments or when other treatments are ineffective. This medication has been studied for specific types of dyslipidemia and is used when responses to appropriate dietary changes and non-drug treatments are insufficient. Before administration, it is essential to identify and treat other underlying diseases, and patients' lipid levels should be monitored regularly to ensure treatment efficacy. This medication helps reduce cardiovascular risks caused by hypercholesterolemia.
