This medication is used as an adjunct to diet for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL cholesterol. It is also used in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia either as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering treatments or when those treatments are not effective. This medication should be administered together with appropriate dietary control, and it is essential to confirm and treat any other diseases or medications affecting the cause of dyslipidemia before use. Patient lipid levels should be monitored regularly to assess and manage treatment effectiveness. This helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and maintain a healthy blood lipid status.
