View approved original text

This medication is used to lower high total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, including familial and non-familial types, and to increase HDL cholesterol levels. Additionally, it can be used as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering therapies (e.g., LDL apheresis) in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or when other treatments are ineffective. It is important to use this drug in combination with dietary therapy and other non-drug treatments rather than as a standalone therapy, and to ensure that there are no secondary causes of dyslipidemia before use. It can also assist patients hospitalized for acute cardiovascular events in starting lipid testing and treatment at an appropriate time. This drug effectively improves cholesterol levels in patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease, aiding in maintaining health.
