Adult dosage

This drug is taken once daily, regardless of meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, the dosage range is 10/10 mg to 10/80 mg per day. A starting dose of 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg daily is recommended. For patients requiring more significant LDL cholesterol reduction (over 55%), a starting dose of 10/40 mg daily is recommended. After initiation of treatment or dose adjustment, blood lipid levels should be checked at intervals of not less than two weeks.

This drug may rarely cause serious side effects such as muscle disorders known as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. In particular, patients with acute infections, hypotension, major surgery or trauma, endocrine disorders, etc., should temporarily suspend or discontinue the use of this drug. Those with allergies to the active ingredients or components of this drug, severely impaired liver function, muscle diseases, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and those taking certain other medications should not take this drug. Caution is advised for individuals with a history of alcoholism or liver disease, those with poor kidney function or hypothyroidism, and the elderly, who are at higher risk for muscle issues. This drug can affect liver function, so liver function tests should be performed before and during use, and discontinuation is necessary if liver function worsens. Moreover, this drug may elevate blood sugar levels, so individuals at risk for diabetes should ensure proper blood sugar management. Women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should not take this drug, and if currently taking it, must discontinue it immediately and consult their doctor. If symptoms such as dizziness or muscle pain occur, patients should inform their doctor immediately and receive necessary examinations. This drug may interact with other medications, so if any other medications are being taken, patients must inform their doctor or pharmacist. Special precautions are needed for children and the elderly, and safety has not been established in children, so it is not recommended. In case of overdose, treatment and supportive care should be provided according to symptoms, and liver and muscle conditions should be monitored. This drug should be stored out of the reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.

Serious side effects

Hives, severe swelling (edema), Stevens-Johnson syndrome (severe mucocutaneous reactions), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome), skin ulcers, severe skin reactions including erythema multiforme, anaphylaxis, jaundice, fulminant hepatitis, liver failure, liver dysfunction, kidney failure, rhabdomyolysis, severe myopathy, immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy, acute kidney failure, acute severe myopathy, cerebral aneurysm, severe headache, seizures.

This drug should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air or moisture ingress and should be kept at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. This storage method helps to maintain the drug's effectiveness for a longer period.
