Improvement of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia (total cholesterol, LDL-C, etc.)
This medication helps reduce total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B, triglyceride, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and increases HDL-cholesterol, which is good cholesterol. It is also used as an adjunct therapy with other treatments for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or when other treatments are ineffective. This medication should be used in conjunction with a diet and is employed when non-drug therapies, like limiting saturated fats and cholesterol intake, are insufficient. It is important to identify and treat other causes of dyslipidemia, such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, before therapy. Furthermore, in case of acute coronary events, lipid tests should be promptly conducted upon admission to decide on the treatment direction. This medication is effectively utilized to reduce the risk of vascular diseases associated with hypercholesterolemia.
This medication is to be taken once daily regardless of meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, the dosage ranges from 10/10 mg to 10/80 mg per day, with an initial dose recommended at either 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg. For patients who require a greater reduction in LDL-cholesterol (more than 55%), an initial dose of 10/40 mg is recommended. After starting treatment or adjusting the dose, cholesterol levels should be checked with an interval of more than 2 weeks.

Alcoholics or patients with poor liver function and those at high risk of muscle disorders should take this medication with caution, especially elderly patients need to be careful. This medication may affect liver function, thus it is important to undergo regular liver function tests before and during treatment. Symptoms like muscle pain, abdominal pain, and increased liver enzymes are common side effects, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately. This medication may interact with other drugs, so patients should disclose any medications they are taking. Special caution is needed when taken with drugs that can cause muscle damage. Women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraceptive methods to avoid pregnancy during the use of this medication and must stop taking it immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Symptoms like dizziness may occur, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery.
