This medication helps lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol while increasing HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, particularly familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Additionally, it is used as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering therapies in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or as an alternative when other treatments are ineffective. This medication is to be used in conjunction with a proper diet and is effective when non-drug treatments are insufficient. The risk factors for dyslipidemia should be carefully assessed prior to treatment, and regular monitoring of total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglyceride levels is necessary. For patients with acute coronary events, measuring lipid levels upon admission or within 24 hours is crucial for treatment planning. This medication is used to improve blood lipid levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia.
