This medication is an adjunct to diet for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It may be used alone or in combination with other lipid-lowering treatments, particularly in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia when other therapies are ineffective. This medication is indicated for patients at increased risk for cardiovascular disease and should be used in conjunction with diet and lifestyle changes. It is essential to first identify and treat any secondary causes of dyslipidemia before starting this medication. Regular lipid testing should be conducted before initiating and during therapy to monitor treatment effectiveness. This medication is used as a safe and effective option for improving lipid levels in the treatment of dyslipidemia.
