Reduction of cholesterol in primary hypercholesterolemia (homozygous familial) and dyslipidemia, and reduction of cardiovascular disease risk through HDL increase
This medication mainly aids in lowering elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL-cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL-cholesterol. It is also used for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering therapies or when alternatives are not tolerable. This medication is used when dietary changes and other non-pharmacological measures are insufficient, and careful consideration of risk factors is necessary for patients at high risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease. Before treatment, secondary causes of dyslipidemia such as diabetes and hypothyroidism must be identified and treated, and during treatment, lipid levels such as total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, etc., should be regularly monitored. This medication is effectively used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia.
This medication is administered once daily, regardless of meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, an initial dose of 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg once daily is recommended. For patients requiring greater reductions in LDL-cholesterol, an initial dose of 10/40 mg once daily is recommended. After initiating treatment or adjusting the dosage, lipid levels should be checked at a minimum interval of 2 weeks and adjusted as necessary. Homozygous familial
