This medication helps lower cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. It reduces total cholesterol and bad LDL cholesterol levels while increasing good HDL cholesterol levels, contributing to cardiovascular disease prevention. It is particularly used as an adjunct therapy when diet alone is insufficient to control cholesterol levels, and it may be administered when other treatments are ineffective or require assistance. This drug should be used in conjunction with a diet that includes restrictions on saturated fats and cholesterol, and should be carefully administered considering the patient's risk factors. Additionally, prior to medication administration, secondary causes such as diabetes and hypothyroidism should be identified and treated if necessary. This drug effectively improves cholesterol management by controlling blood lipid levels in patients with dyslipidemia.
