This medication helps reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL cholesterol. It is also utilized as an adjunct therapy when treatment is needed alone or with other medications in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. This drug is prescribed in conjunction with a diet and is administered when non-pharmacological measures have not been sufficiently effective. Before administration, it is important to assess and treat any secondary causes of dyslipidemia as necessary. Moreover, treatment direction is determined through lipid level measurements, and rapid lipid testing and treatment initiation are recommended for patients with acute coronary events. This medication is used to treat hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia.
