This drug is used as an adjunct therapy along with diet to lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while raising HDL cholesterol levels. Additionally, in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, this drug is administered as add-on therapy to other lipid-lowering treatments or when other therapies are ineffective. This drug may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with dyslipidemia that increases the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease and should be used in conjunction with an appropriate diet. Before treatment, it is important to check for secondary causes of dyslipidemia and treat them if necessary. This drug helps improve vascular health by controlling cholesterol.
