This medication helps lower total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, especially in heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia, while increasing good cholesterol HDL-cholesterol levels. It is used in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia when other lipid-lowering therapies are inadequate or when additional support is needed. This drug is to be used alongside dietary therapy and is effective when cholesterol levels are difficult to control or when cardiovascular disease risk is high. When treating dyslipidemia, it is essential to consider various risk factors of the patient and to use it in conjunction with dietary habit improvement. It is important to check for secondary causes, such as diabetes or hypothyroidism, prior to use and treat accordingly if necessary. Overall, this drug is effectively used to reduce the risk of hypercholesterolemia and related vascular diseases.
