This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B proteins, and triglycerides, while increasing HDL cholesterol. It is important to identify and treat other secondary causes prior to administration, and to manage the condition with regular lipid testing during treatment. This drug helps reduce risks associated with hypercholesterolemia and related cardiovascular diseases and aids in controlling lipid levels.
