This medication is used as an adjunct to diet in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, ApoB, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels, and to increase HDL cholesterol levels. It can also be administered to patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in conjunction with or as an alternative to other lipid-lowering therapies. This medication is utilized when dietary and non-pharmacological measures have been inadequate in treating dyslipidemia, and comprehensive management is necessary considering various risk factors. Before treatment, secondary causes of dyslipidemia such as diabetes and hypothyroidism should be identified and appropriate measures taken. This medication contributes to reducing cardiovascular risk and helps improve health through effective lipid control.
