This medication is used in conjunction with dietary therapy to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels, and to increase HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. In patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, it can be administered as an adjunctive treatment when other lipid-lowering therapies are insufficient. This medication is used when dietary adjustments and non-drug methods are insufficient in the treatment of dyslipidemia, and it is important to identify and manage secondary causes such as diabetes and hypothyroidism before use. Treatment effectiveness is monitored through lipid tests, including total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides. This medication helps reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia.
