This drug is used as an adjunct to diet to lower total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL-cholesterol levels and to raise HDL-cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It also helps to reduce cholesterol levels in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia either in combination with other lipid-lowering therapies or as monotherapy. This drug is recommended for use alongside dietary therapy in the treatment of dyslipidemia, particularly when non-pharmacological measures have been insufficient. Before treatment, possible secondary causes of dyslipidemia, such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, should be confirmed and treated if necessary. Overall, this drug is intended to improve blood lipid levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases associated with hypercholesterolemia.
