Improvement of lipids by reducing cholesterol in hypercholesterolemia (primary, homozygous familial) and dyslipidemia, and increasing HDL.
This medication helps lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels while increasing HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It can be used as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering therapies in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or can be used alone if other treatments are ineffective. This medication is to be used in conjunction with dietary changes and is applied when there is insufficient response to non-pharmacological treatments. Prior to treatment, secondary causes such as diabetes and hypothyroidism should be identified and addressed as necessary, and it is important to confirm accurate lipid levels. It helps effectively improve total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, thus reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
This medication is administered once daily regardless of meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, the dosing range is from 10/10mg to 10/80mg daily. The recommended starting dose is 10/10mg or 10/20mg daily. Patients requiring more significant reduction in LDL cholesterol should start with a dose of 10/40mg daily as the initial dose. Dosing adjustments should be made after checking blood lipid levels at intervals of more than 2 weeks.

During treatment, liver function and muscle condition should be regularly monitored; if symptoms of impaired liver function, muscle pain, fatigue, or fever occur, medical personnel should be notified immediately. Women who are pregnant or nursing should avoid taking this medication, and women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraception while on this medication. The safety and efficacy in children have not been established, hence it is not recommended for use in this age group; for the elderly, caution is needed due to the risk of myopathy.
