This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and to raise HDL cholesterol levels. It is also used as an adjunct when other lipid-lowering treatments are ineffective in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication is used in conjunction with an appropriate diet to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, considering the patient's cholesterol levels and other risk factors. It is important to identify and treat secondary causes of dyslipidemia, and to monitor lipid levels before and after treatment. This medication helps treat hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia and improves blood lipid levels.
