Precautions

This medication is an oral contraceptive used to regulate female fertility. Smoking can significantly increase the risk of severe cardiovascular side effects, especially thrombosis, while taking this medication. In particular, women over 35 years of age who smoke more than 15 cigarettes a day should not use this medication. The active ingredient, drospirenone, may increase blood potassium levels, so individuals with kidney, liver, or adrenal function problems should not use it. Additionally, if taking other medications that may increase blood potassium levels, potassium levels must be checked before starting this medication. This medication is only for women who have started menstruating and are aged 14 and older; it should not be used by adolescents before menarche. If there is a risk of cardiovascular disease or if symptoms related to thrombosis occur, stop taking the medication immediately, and it should also be suspended for a certain period before and after surgery. This medication is not administered to individuals with estrogen-dependent tumors, thromboembolic disorders, severe hypertension, liver or kidney dysfunction, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those with specific genetic disorders. Additionally, women over 40, individuals with a history of epilepsy, a family history of breast cancer, or a history of depression should use it cautiously. Regular checkups of blood pressure, breasts, and cervix are recommended while taking this medication, and those with a family history of thrombosis should be screened for risk factors related to thrombosis. During use, various side effects such as nausea, vomiting, bleeding, breast pain, weight changes, and mood changes may occur; serious adverse reactions such as thrombosis, myocardial infarction, and stroke have also been reported. The contraceptive effect may be diminished due to interactions with other medications, so if taken with other medications, consulting with a doctor or pharmacist is essential. Before and during the use of this medication, thorough consultation with a doctor and following precautions are important for safe use.
