In patients with renal impairment, dose adjustments are needed based on kidney function. Precautions

This drug can occasionally cause serious allergic reactions. If symptoms such as skin rashes, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur after taking the medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. During treatment with this medication, there is a risk of acute pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas. If symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting appear, notify medical personnel immediately. This medication should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, nor should it be taken in cases of allergy to the drug or its ingredients. Patients with reduced kidney function need dose adjustments, and regular kidney function tests are recommended while following a doctor's instructions regarding use. This drug can be used alone or in combination with other diabetes medications, but there is an increased risk of hypoglycemia when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, so blood glucose levels should be monitored closely. During treatment, symptoms such as headache, upper respiratory infection, nasopharyngitis, diarrhea, nausea, or abdominal pain may occur. If symptoms are severe or persistent, inform medical personnel. If severe arthralgia or skin blistering occurs, discontinue use of the medication immediately and consult a specialist. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid using this drug as its safety has not been established. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney function; therefore, kidney function tests should be performed before and after using this medication, and dose adjustments may be necessary. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal decontamination should be performed, and the condition should be monitored through tests such as an ECG. Blood dialysis may be required to remove the drug if necessary. There is generally low interaction with other medications, but if taking cyclosporine or digoxin, consult medical personnel for appropriate monitoring.
