Treatment and prevention of erosive reflux esophagitis, relief of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms
Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a condition where stomach contents reflux into the esophagus, and this medication is effective in treating erosive reflux esophagitis. It is also used for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It helps alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease in individuals without esophagitis. This medication is utilized to improve these symptoms and conditions, enhancing the quality of life for patients.
Take this medication on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before meals. Swallow whole with at least half a cup of water. Do not take with any beverage other than water. This medication should not be chewed or crushed. For the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive reflux esophagitis: administer 40/600 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If unresolved or if symptoms persist, take for an additional 4 weeks. For esophagitis
This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients who are allergic to this medication or its components or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions should not take it. Furthermore, patients currently taking certain antiviral medications, lactating women, and individuals with severe renal impairment should also avoid using this medication. Patients with genetically inherited lactose intolerance should refrain from using this drug. Patients with poor liver function, elderly patients, those with severe gastrointestinal conditions, or problems related to heart and lung function, as well as those with constipation should use this medication with caution. While taking this medication, various adverse reactions may occur, and caution is advised. Common gastrointestinal symptoms include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and vomiting. Rarely, blood abnormalities, allergic reactions, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, and muscle pain have been reported. If symptoms such as muscle pain or weakness, or increased creatine kinase levels occur, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. Long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of bacterial growth in the stomach or certain infections, as well as an increased risk of fractures, necessitating regular check-ups. Additionally, prolonged use may lead to hypomagnesemia, so magnesium levels should be monitored regularly. There may be interactions with other medications during the use of this drug, particularly when taken with anticoagulants, antiviral drugs, anticonvulsants, or certain antibiotics, so caution is needed. Patients must inform their doctors or pharmacists about any medications they are currently taking, as dose adjustment or monitoring may be necessary. Safety information regarding this medication during pregnancy is limited, so it should be used cautiously after consulting with a doctor, and use while nursing is not advised. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and treatment will be symptomatic. It should be stored out of the reach of children. This medication acts by suppressing or neutralizing gastric acid secretion, assisting in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, but it is crucial to confirm the absence of serious conditions such as gastrointestinal bleeding or malignant tumors before use. The treatment period and dosage should be maintained at the minimum necessary level, with consultation from healthcare professionals if symptoms change.
