If esophagitis is not cured or symptoms persist, continue taking for an additional 4 weeks. For the recurrence of esophagitis, long-term maintenance therapy is recommended.

This medication is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and reflux esophagitis. It is also applicable for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It effectively improves symptoms in GERD patients who do not have esophagitis. This treatment helps maintain the health of the stomach and esophagus. Overall, it is used for the treatment of symptoms and diseases related to gastroesophageal reflux.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before meals. Swallow it whole with at least half a cup of water. Do not take it with any other beverages than water. It should not be chewed or crushed. Treatment of reflux esophagitis: Administer 40/600 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If esophagitis is not cured or symptoms persist, continue taking for an additional 4 weeks. For the recurrence of esophagitis, long-term maintenance therapy is recommended.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to patients with an allergy or history of hypersensitivity to this medication or its components, those taking certain antiviral medications, breastfeeding women, and patients with severe renal impairment or hypercalcemia. Caution should be exercised in administering this medication to individuals with liver or kidney function problems, the elderly, patients with severe gastrointestinal ulcers, and those with impaired cardiac or pulmonary function, as well as patients with severe constipation. While this medication is used to treat gastrointestinal diseases by suppressing gastric acid secretion, various adverse reactions may occur during administration. Symptoms such as headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, rash, muscle pain, etc., may occur, and rarely, serious blood anomalies, liver dysfunction, severe allergic reactions, and severe skin diseases have been reported. Long-term use may lead to issues such as hypomagnesemia, increased fracture risk, and increased risk of gastrointestinal infections, thus regular check-ups are required. This medication may interact with other medications, so patients taking anticoagulants, antiviral medications, certain antibiotics, immunosuppressants, etc. should consult with their doctor. Use during pregnancy should be done with caution, and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. In case of overdose, no specific antidote exists, and appropriate treatment should be sought based on symptoms. Headache, dizziness, paresthesia, drowsiness, taste disturbance, blurred vision, vertigo, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, elevated liver enzymes, hepatitis, dermatitis, itching, rash, urticaria, hair loss, photosensitivity, weakness, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, urinary abnormalities, allergic reactions, facial swelling, facial flushing, fatigue, fever, leg edema
