Treatment and prevention of reflux esophagitis, alleviation of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly reflux esophagitis. It is also prescribed as long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It is effective in alleviating symptoms caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease even in patients without esophagitis, thus helping to improve uncomfortable symptoms. It is widely used for various esophageal-related diseases.
This medication should be taken on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before meals. When taking this medication, swallow it whole with at least half a cup of water. Do not take with any beverages other than water. This medication should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Adults - For the treatment of reflux esophagitis: Administer 40/600 mg once daily for 4 weeks. In cases where esophagitis is not resolved or symptoms persist, continue taking for an additional 4 weeks.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, those who have allergies or a history of hypersensitivity to this medication or its ingredients, those taking certain antiviral drugs (Atazanavir, Nelpivirine, Rilpivirine), breastfeeding women, patients with severe renal impairment or severe hypercalcemia, or patients with parathyroid dysfunction should not take this medication. Caution should be exercised in patients with impaired liver function or the elderly, patients with severe gastrointestinal ulcers, patients with renal impairment, and patients with heart or lung problems, as well as those with severe constipation. During treatment, a variety of side effects may occur, including headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, and other gastrointestinal symptoms. Rarely, symptoms such as blood abnormalities, allergic reactions, skin rashes, myalgia, liver function abnormalities, and nephritis may occur, and immediate consultation with a physician is necessary if abnormal symptoms appear. Long-term use of this medication may slightly increase the risk of infection due to increased gastric bacteria and may also increase the risk of fractures, so periodic examinations are required for those at risk of osteoporosis. In addition, magnesium levels may decrease with long-term use, and regular blood tests are recommended. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking anticoagulants, digoxin, methotrexate, certain antiviral drugs, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, etc. Caution is needed as drug concentrations may change when co-administered. During pregnancy, the safety of this medication has not been sufficiently established, so it should only be used according to a doctor's instructions when absolutely necessary, and it is recommended not to take this medication while breastfeeding. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and treatment and observation based on symptoms are required. Lastly, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to other containers as it may alter the quality.
