Improvement in blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes
This medication is used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered alone; however, if blood sugar control is insufficient, it can be combined with metformin, sulfonylureas, insulin, or empagliflozin. By using multiple medications in combination, it enhances blood sugar control and improves patient management of blood sugar.
The recommended dose of this medication is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to the active ingredient or any components of this medication. It should also not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. When used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas, which can cause hypoglycemia, there may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia, and dose adjustments may be necessary. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate congestive heart failure, and it is not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. Acute pancreatitis may occur during the use of this drug; therefore, if persistent and severe abdominal pain occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Bullous skin diseases such as pemphigoid may occur, so if blisters or sores appear on the skin, inform a doctor immediately. Drug discontinuation and specialist care may be required if necessary. Hypoglycemic symptoms may appear while taking this medication, so careful monitoring of blood sugar levels is necessary. It is not recommended for use in pregnant women as safety has not been established, and nursing women should use it cautiously. Safety and efficacy in children have not been sufficiently verified, so it is advisable not to use it in children. Elderly patients can be administered the general dosage safely without the need for additional dose adjustment. Patients with reduced kidney or liver function can also use it without special dose adjustments. In cases of overdose, remaining medication in the gastrointestinal tract should be removed, symptoms observed, and necessary treatment administered. Keep this medication out of reach of children and it is safer not to transfer it to another container as it helps maintain the quality of the medication.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture. Additionally, it is best to store this medication at room temperature, which should not be too hot or too cold, namely between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
