Improvement of blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to improve blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It supplements dietary and exercise regimens and can be administered alone or in combination with other medications to enhance therapeutic effects. This helps patients manage their blood glucose levels more effectively.
The recommended dose for this medication is 20 mg once daily, whether used as monotherapy or in combination therapy. It can be taken regardless of meals.

Use caution when administering this medication to patients with severe liver dysfunction or heart failure. In particular, it is not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. Patients taking sulfonylureas or insulin should be cautious as there is a risk of hypoglycemia. Exercise caution in patients at a high risk of hypoglycemia, such as those with pituitary or adrenal insufficiency, malnutrition, irregular eating habits, intense exercise, and excessive alcohol consumption. Individuals with a history of abdominal surgery or bowel obstruction should also exercise caution when taking this medication. Patients with arrhythmias or heart diseases that can affect heart rhythm, as well as those with hypokalemia, should be careful as QT interval prolongation may occur. Acute pancreatitis symptoms may arise, so if persistent abdominal pain or vomiting occurs, an immediate medical evaluation should be sought. During treatment with this medication, symptoms of hypoglycemia may appear; thus, if symptoms occur, foods containing sugar should be consumed. Caution is particularly needed when taken with other diabetic medications as the risk of hypoglycemia increases. In cases of overdose, symptoms should be closely monitored and appropriate treatment should be administered as necessary. Caution is advised as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Furthermore, there may be interactions with other medications, so patients should always consult with their physician or pharmacist regarding the medications they are taking. If any unusual symptoms such as hypoglycemia, skin rash, severe joint pain, or persistent abdominal pain occur while taking this medication, immediate notification and consultation with healthcare professionals are necessary.
