Improves blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used in conjunction with dietary control and exercise therapy to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be used alone or in combination with other diabetes medications, making it effective for managing blood sugar. It helps to stabilize the blood sugar levels of the patient.
For monotherapy or combination therapy, take 20 mg once daily, regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used in certain cases. For example, individuals allergic to any components of this medication, patients with type 1 diabetes, and those in states of diabetic ketoacidosis or coma should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with severe infections, those undergoing surgery, or those who have suffered severe trauma may require alternative treatments instead of this medication. Patients with very poor liver function, heart failure, or those taking other specific medications should use this medication carefully, and extra caution is needed, especially in situations where there is a risk of hypoglycemia. Individuals with a history of abdominal surgery or bowel obstruction should also be careful when taking this medication. This medication can cause symptoms of hypoglycemia, so when taken with drugs that have a high risk of hypoglycemia, blood sugar should be monitored frequently, and patients should be well-informed about symptoms. Furthermore, if severe abdominal pain or vomiting occurs during the course of taking this medication, pancreatitis may be indicated, and immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication is not recommended for pregnant women and should be used cautiously in breastfeeding individuals. Its safety and efficacy have not been fully established in children or the elderly; therefore, special caution is needed. In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention, where typically the absorbed medication will be removed and the patient's condition will be monitored with an electrocardiogram and other evaluations. When storing this medication, keep it out of the reach of children and do not transfer it to another container. Finally, it is important to consult medical personnel immediately if any unusual symptoms or side effects occur while taking this medication.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory changes accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), general malaise, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, urinary changes
