Improvement in blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to help control blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes, in conjunction with diet and exercise. It can also be administered alone, and if sufficient control is difficult in patients who have not previously used other diabetes medications, it can be used in combination with metformin. Additionally, when blood glucose control is challenging with only sulfonylurea, metformin, thiazolidinedione, or insulin therapy, this medication can be used in combination. If blood glucose control remains difficult even with multiple agents, this medication may be added to enhance efficacy. This way, systematic treatment improves blood glucose control.
This medication is administered once daily at a dose of 100 mg in either monotherapy or combination therapy, with a maximum daily dose of 100 mg. It can be taken with or without meals. Patients with renal impairment require dose adjustments according to renal function. - Mild renal impairment (eGFR 60 to less than 90): no dose adjustment required. - Moderate renal impairment (eGFR 45 to less than 60): no dose adjustment required. - Moderate renal impairment (eGFR 30 to less than 45): administer 50 mg once daily. - Severe renal impairment (eGFR 15 to less than 30) or patients requiring dialysis (ESRD) (eGFR < 15): administer 25 mg once daily. This medication can be administered regardless of dialysis timing.
