Treatment of eye inflammation including blepharitis and conjunctivitis
This medication is used to treat various eye inflammatory diseases such as blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, scleritis, and uveitis, as well as inflammation that occurs post-surgery.
Instill 1-2 drops, 2-4 times a day. For the first 1-2 days, it may be used every hour as needed. Adjust dosage appropriately according to symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with certain infectious diseases such as viral keratitis, fungal eye infections, or ocular tuberculosis. It should also be avoided in patients with untreated purulent infections or hypersensitivity to this drug. Caution is needed if used when the corneal epithelium is damaged or with ulcers, as this may lead to corneal perforation. This medication should be used cautiously in glaucoma patients or children, particularly because children may have an increased risk of adrenal suppression with prolonged high-dose use. While using this medication, side effects such as headache, eye pain, increased intraocular pressure, cataracts, visual disturbances, and eye redness may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms arise, immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is advised. With long-term use, eye diseases like glaucoma or cataracts may develop, so regular monitoring of intraocular pressure and lens examination is important. When used in patients with a history of herpes simplex, there is a risk of worsening corneal disease, hence frequent examinations are necessary. Contact lens wearers should remove their lenses before instilling the drops and can reinsert them at least 15 minutes after administration. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Transient blurred vision may occur upon instillation; thus, driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided until vision is clear. If there is a risk of infection from chickenpox or measles, one should check medical history and vaccination status before using this medication, and seek immediate medical care if infection occurs. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the benefits and risks of using this medication, and nursing mothers should consider stopping either medication or breastfeeding. Special care is required when using this drug in children and the elderly, particularly as older individuals may have an increased risk of side effects due to reduced physiological function. This medication is for ophthalmic use only, and care must be taken to avoid contamination by not allowing the tip of the container to come into contact with the eye or other surfaces. Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place, out of the reach of children and do not transfer to another container.
