Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals allergic to this medication or its ingredients. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be given to patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with chronic active hepatitis or cirrhosis should use this medication with caution. Taking this medication may cause side effects such as dry mouth, nausea, or skin rash; these symptoms may improve when antihistamines are used together. Temporary liver function issues may lead to jaundice, but discontinuing the medication or using a jaundice treatment will alleviate symptoms. Occasional nausea or abdominal bloating may occur, but these usually resolve quickly. Taking this medication in combination with inosine may improve liver function test results. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should not take this medication. Elderly individuals may have decreased physical function, so care should be taken to reduce the dosage when using it. There are rarely increases in liver function test results while taking this medication, and although results may rise upon discontinuation, they improve upon resuming the medication. This medication must be kept out of reach of children and stored in the original container with the cap tightly closed. Transferring to another container may degrade the quality of the medication or pose a risk of misuse.
