This medicine is used as an adjunct to diet to lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, particularly heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia, as well as mixed dyslipidemia. It should be used alongside an appropriate diet including restrictions on saturated fat and cholesterol and is administered in cases where non-pharmacological treatment is insufficient. It helps to reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease caused by hypercholesterolemia as well as the improvement of dyslipidemia. Before administration, it is important to check for other diseases that could induce dyslipidemia, such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, and treat them if necessary. This drug should be used according to expert guidance as its efficacy has not been confirmed in some types of dyslipidemia. Overall, this medicine is used as an effective treatment for the management of hypercholesterolemia and reduction of the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease.
