View approved original text

This medication is used to lower total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. It is most effective when administered alongside a diet to help manage blood lipid levels effectively. However, caution is advised as there is insufficient research on certain types of dyslipidemia, including Fredrickson type I, III, IV, and V. It is important to identify and treat any secondary causes, such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, before using this medication. Additionally, the patient's condition should be regularly monitored through lipid tests to guide treatment decisions. This medication is used to reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular diseases caused by hypercholesterolemia.
