Improvement of cholesterol and lipid levels in high cholesterol (primary, mixed) and dyslipidemia
This medication helps control blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients with primary high cholesterol and mixed dyslipidemia. It is primarily used in conjunction with dietary therapy to reduce total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels, while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. Additionally, it is useful in managing the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to high cholesterol. However, this medication should be used cautiously in cases associated with specific forms of dyslipidemia or certain risk factors. It is important to identify other causes of dyslipidemia before treatment and to implement appropriate dietary and non-drug therapies. This medication is used to improve blood lipid levels and support cardiovascular health.
This medication is administered once daily regardless of meals. The dosage is adjusted based on the patient's baseline LDL cholesterol level, treatment target level, and patient response. For primary high cholesterol, it can be administered in doses ranging from 10/10 mg to 10/40 mg per day, with an initial recommended dosage of 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg per day. After adjusting the dose, blood lipid levels should be checked every two weeks or longer and the dosage adjusted accordingly.
This medication can rarely cause damage to muscle tissue, leading to serious kidney problems, so if symptoms of muscle pain or weakness occur, you must inform a doctor immediately. Patients with an allergy to this drug, those with liver function issues, individuals with muscle diseases, pregnant or nursing women, and those taking certain other medications should not use this drug. Patients with decreased liver or kidney function, alcoholics, the elderly, and those with hypothyroidism should exercise greater caution when using this medication and should undergo regular testing as directed by their physician. During treatment, side effects may occur such as liver dysfunction, increased blood sugar, digestive disturbances, headaches, dizziness, skin rashes, etc., so if these symptoms persist or worsen, consulting a physician is necessary. This drug can particularly raise liver enzyme levels, so regular liver function tests should be conducted before and during treatment, and if symptoms of liver damage arise, the medication should be discontinued immediately. To prevent muscle-related side effects, it is advisable to avoid vigorous exercise while taking this drug, and any symptoms of muscle pain or weakness should be reported to a physician immediately. This drug may interact with several other medications; therefore, if you are taking other medicines, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist, especially when used in combination with certain antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, blood pressure medications, or diabetes medications. Women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraceptive methods to avoid pregnancy while taking this drug, and if pregnancy is confirmed, the use of this medication should be discontinued immediately. Because dizziness and other symptoms may arise, caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. The safety of this drug in children has not been established, so it is not recommended for pediatric use. In case of overdose, as there is no specific antidote, you should visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment if you exceed the prescribed dose.
