This medicine helps to improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, especially those with heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It lowers elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL-cholesterol levels while increasing HDL-cholesterol levels. This drug is used in conjunction with dietary management, particularly in patients at risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to dyslipidemia. It is important to identify and treat secondary causes such as diabetes or hypothyroidism before use, and to monitor treatment effects regularly with lipid tests. This medicine is used to effectively control patients' cholesterol levels, improving cardiovascular health.

This medication may rarely cause serious problems with muscles, so patients should consult their doctor immediately if they experience sudden muscle pain or weakness. Due to muscle damage, kidney function issues may arise, so patients with a history of kidney disease or those with risk factors such as severe infections, major surgery, or trauma should be particularly cautious. Taking this medicine in conjunction with certain other medications may increase drug levels and the risk of muscle damage, so patients should inform their doctor of any concurrent medications.
