This medication is used as an adjunct to diet in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, especially heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia, and mixed dyslipidemia, to lower total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL-cholesterol levels, and to increase HDL-cholesterol. It also helps treat patients at high risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia. It should be used alongside an appropriate diet, and secondary causes must be confirmed and treated. The use of this medication is particularly important under the guidance of a specialist for some types of dyslipidemia due to limited research. Overall, this medication is effective in improving blood lipid levels and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
