This medication helps reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and increases HDL cholesterol, which is the good cholesterol. It is primarily used as an adjunct to dietary management, and it is important to administer it alongside appropriate dietary measures such as limiting saturated fats and cholesterol. Additionally, before using this medication, it is important to confirm and treat any other secondary causes, such as diabetes or hypothyroidism, if necessary. In patients with acute coronary events, lipid tests should be performed upon admission to help determine the treatment direction. This medication is effective for treating dyslipidemia and is used to safely improve cholesterol levels.
This medication is administered once daily, regardless of meals. The dosage range is from 10/10 mg to 10/40 mg per day. For the initial dosage, 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg once daily is recommended. If a greater reduction in LDL cholesterol is required, dosages can be adjusted accordingly. After initiating treatment or adjusting the dosage, check lipid levels in the blood at an interval of more than 2 weeks to adjust the dosage.
This medication is used to lower blood cholesterol levels. Before taking this medication, one should be aware that symptoms such as muscle pain or weakness may occur. Particularly in cases of severe muscle pain or high risk of muscle damage, the administration should be temporarily halted or stopped after consulting a physician. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients contained in this medication, those with severely impaired liver function, those with muscle diseases, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, lactating women, and those taking certain other medications should not take this drug. Patients who consume excessive alcohol or have a history of liver disease, patients with impaired kidney function, patients with hypothyroidism, and elderly patients should use this medication with caution, and regular monitoring is recommended. During treatment with this medication, liver function tests and muscle-related tests should be conducted regularly, and if symptoms of liver damage or worsening muscle pain occur, medical assistance should be obtained immediately. Additionally, this medication can interact with several other drugs, so if you are taking other medications, you should inform your doctor or pharmacist, particularly when combining with certain antibiotics, antiviral drugs, antifungals, and immunosuppressants. Be cautious as dizziness and other symptoms may occur while driving or operating machinery. It is safest to avoid taking this medication during pregnancy or lactation, and women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraceptive methods while taking this drug. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children have not been established, and therefore it is not recommended. In the case of an overdose, as there is no specific antidote, seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment, and monitor liver function and muscle condition. Keep this medication out of the reach of children and do not transfer it to another container.
