Improvement of cholesterol and lipid levels in hypercholesterolemia (primary, mixed) and dyslipidemia
This medication helps to lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL-cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL-cholesterol. It is particularly effective when used in conjunction with a diet to control blood lipid levels. This medication is used for lipid control in patients at high risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease and should be used together with treatment after identifying other secondary causes when necessary. It is important to accurately measure cholesterol and triglyceride levels before and during treatment to manage them appropriately. This medication improves symptoms of dyslipidemia in conjunction with a diet that includes limitations on saturated fats and cholesterol.
This medication is taken once daily without regard to meals. The recommended initial dose is 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg once a day. The dosage range is from 10/10 mg to 10/40 mg daily. For patients requiring a greater reduction in LDL-cholesterol, the dose may be adjusted. After starting treatment or adjusting the dosage, blood lipid levels should be checked at intervals of more than 2 weeks to optimize the dosage.
This medication can affect the muscles and may rarely cause severe muscle damage and renal dysfunction. Therefore, if serious muscle pain or muscle weakness symptoms occur, it is essential to inform a doctor immediately, and treatment may need to be temporarily stopped or discontinued in case of risk factors. This medication should not be administered to certain patients, including those who have hypersensitivity to the active ingredients, active liver disease, muscle disease, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, patients currently taking specific antiviral drugs, and those with genetic conditions such as lactose intolerance. Patients with a history of liver disease or alcoholism, those with renal function issues or hypothyroidism, elderly patients, and those with a history of muscle-related diseases should use this medication with caution. During the use of this medication, liver function abnormalities, blood sugar changes, gastrointestinal symptoms, headaches, dizziness, skin rashes, muscle pain, and other symptoms may occur, and medical consultation should be sought if symptoms develop. Caution is required if used in combination with drugs that increase the risk of myopathy, especially with CYP3A4 inhibitors, cyclosporine, certain antibiotics, antifungals, and treatments for HIV or hepatitis C, which may require dosage adjustment and monitoring. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication, as it may pose risks to the fetus or infant. Fertile women should use proper contraception during treatment. Elderly patients and those with impaired liver or kidney function need special precautions while using this medication, and regular liver function tests and muscle-related tests should be conducted. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be symptomatic and supportive, including monitoring liver function and muscle enzyme levels. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided to prevent a decline in quality or risk of accidents.
