View approved original text

This medication is used to lower total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL-cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and to raise HDL-cholesterol levels. It is especially used as an adjunctive treatment when dietary therapy alone is insufficient for patients needing cholesterol management. It is important to identify and treat secondary causes of dyslipidemia, such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, before beginning treatment. Please note that this medication has not been studied in certain types of dyslipidemia (Fredrickson types I, III, IV, and V). For patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease, it is necessary to establish an appropriate treatment plan with a specialist considering multiple risk factors. This medication helps to prevent atherosclerotic vascular disease through effective lipid level improvement.

Adult dosage

This medication is administered once daily, regardless of meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, the dosage range is 10/10 mg to 10/40 mg per day, with an initial dose recommended as 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg. Precautions

This medication is used to lower blood cholesterol levels. If symptoms such as muscle pain or weakness occur before taking this medication, inform your physician immediately. Rarely, muscle tissue damage may cause kidney problems, and if serious myopathy is suspected, medication should be discontinued. Additionally, this medication may affect liver function, so liver function tests should be performed before starting treatment, and regular checks for any liver health abnormalities should be conducted during treatment. This medication should not be used if there is a history of liver disease or abnormally high liver enzyme levels. This medication is not indicated for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, or for breastfeeding women. Women of childbearing potential should use appropriate contraception while taking this medication and must discontinue immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. This medication may interact with certain drugs, so it is essential to inform your physician or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. Particularly, taking it alongside drugs that inhibit enzymes responsible for drug metabolism in the liver can increase the concentration of this medication and raise the risk of side effects. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney function are at an increased risk for the occurrence of myopathy and should be cautious during use, consulting healthcare providers immediately if symptoms arise. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur when driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote; immediate medical attention should be sought, and liver function and muscle condition should be monitored. This medication is not recommended for children as safety and efficacy have not been established.
