This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary measures to lower elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. It particularly aids in lipid control in patients at increased risk for cardiovascular diseases, helping to maintain vascular health. This medication should be used alongside appropriate dietary adjustments and is given when other non-pharmacological therapies are insufficient. Before initiation, it is important to identify and treat other causes of dyslipidemia such as diabetes and hypothyroidism if necessary. Regular monitoring of cholesterol levels in patients is recommended to assess treatment progress. This medication is effective in treating dyslipidemia and is used to improve cholesterol levels.
