This medication is used in conjunction with dietary therapy for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia to help lower elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol, while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. However, evidence of greater efficacy compared to other lipid-lowering medications has not yet been established. It is important for patients at high risk of atherosclerotic vascular diseases due to hypercholesterolemia to consider various risk factors during treatment. Drug therapy must always be combined with dietary restrictions on saturated fats and cholesterol, and it is used when dietary therapy alone is insufficient. Before prescribing, it is necessary to confirm secondary causes of dyslipidemia such as diabetes or hypothyroidism and treat them first if needed. This medication is used to improve blood lipid levels in patients with dyslipidemia and to help prevent cardiovascular diseases.
