This medication helps lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood of patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and raises levels of HDL cholesterol, the good cholesterol. In particular, this medication contributes to reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease by decreasing levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol. This medication is used in conjunction with a dietary regimen and is additionally administered when diet alone is insufficient. It is important to confirm other causes of dyslipidemia and treat them if necessary before use. Additionally, it is crucial to develop an appropriate treatment plan considering risk factors for cardiovascular disease. This medication is used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia.
