View approved original text

This medication helps lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL cholesterol. It is used in conjunction with dietary therapy for patients at increased risk of cardiovascular disease and when dietary adjustments or other non-drug measures are insufficient. This drug can contribute to the prevention of atherosclerotic vascular disease by improving blood lipid imbalance, thus it is important to identify and manage relevant secondary causes, such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, before treatment. Continuous lipid tests should be conducted during treatment to monitor therapeutic effects and conditions, particularly lipid testing is necessary upon admission for patients with acute coronary incidents. Treatment is adjusted considering the overall risk factors and deserves careful monitoring to improve lipid levels.
