This medication helps lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL-cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL-cholesterol levels. It is used as an adjunct to appropriate dietary therapy for controlling cholesterol and lipid levels. It is effective for patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease, who do not improve with dietary and lifestyle changes alone, and it is important to identify and treat other causes such as diabetes or hypothyroidism before starting medication. During treatment, regular monitoring of cholesterol and triglyceride levels should be conducted to assess therapeutic effectiveness. This medication is used to reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication is administered once daily regardless of meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, it is administered within a dose range of 10/10mg to 10/40mg per day. Precautions

This medication may rarely cause serious muscle damage leading to kidney problems, so patients with acute myopathy symptoms or at high risk of kidney problems should discontinue or temporarily suspend medication. Patients with allergies to any ingredients in this medication, those with liver disease, muscle disorders, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Caution is required for individuals with alcohol dependence, impaired liver function, high risk of myopathy, and elderly patients, especially when taken with certain other medications. Since this medication can affect liver function, liver function tests should be conducted before starting treatment, and liver function should be monitored regularly during therapy. If symptoms of muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, or muscle pain accompanied by fever occur, the physician should be informed immediately, and muscle enzyme levels should be tested for any abnormalities, leading to discontinuation of the medication if needed. The risk of muscle damage may increase when taken with certain antibiotics, antivirals, or antifungals, so patients must inform their physician of any current medication. Women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should use appropriate contraception while taking this medication and discontinue use immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Safety and efficacy for children have not been established, and it is not recommended for use in this age group. Elderly patients are at increased risk of myopathy and should be monitored carefully, but no special dosage adjustments are needed. Patients with reduced kidney function are at higher risk of muscle damage and require close monitoring. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so treatment should be symptomatic, and liver function and muscle enzyme tests should be conducted to take appropriate action. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to other containers can negatively affect quality.
