This medication is used as an adjunct to diet for lowering high total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and increasing good HDL cholesterol levels. Additionally, this medication helps treat patients at increased risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia. It should be used in conjunction with an appropriate diet, and other secondary causes of the disease must also be identified and managed. This medication can be safely used alone or in combination with other lipid-modifying agents, and patients' blood lipid levels should be systematically monitored to observe treatment progress. Overall, this medication is effectively used to treat dyslipidemia and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Precautions

This medication may cause serious muscle problems; therefore, patients with acute infections, hypotension, major surgery, trauma, severe metabolic or endocrine disorders should temporarily discontinue or not take this medication. Patients with allergies to this medication's active ingredients or components, those with liver disease or muscle disease, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those taking certain other medications should not take this medication. Patients who are alcoholics or have impaired liver function, decreased kidney function, hypothyroidism, a family history of muscle disease, and elderly individuals who may easily develop muscle problems should use this medication carefully. Since this medication may affect liver function, liver function tests should be performed before and during use, and if symptoms of liver damage occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted. If symptoms such as muscle pain, muscle cramps, or muscle weakness occur, patients should inform their doctor immediately, and if muscle-related blood test results are extremely elevated, the medication should be discontinued. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are currently taking other medications, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist, especially when taken with certain antibiotics, antiviral agents, antifungal agents, and immunosuppressive agents. While taking this medication, dizziness may occur during driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should not take this medication and must use appropriate contraceptive methods while taking it. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be symptomatic, and liver function tests and muscle-related tests should be conducted.
