This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Initially, it is administered as monotherapy, and if sufficient blood sugar control is not achieved with monotherapy, it may be used in combination with existing medications such as metformin. It is also used in combination when monotherapy with sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin is inadequate. Furthermore, when multiple medications are used, if blood sugar control is still difficult, this medication can be administered together to enhance effectiveness. How to take

Precautions

This medication can cause serious allergic reactions; if symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty breathing occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, acute pancreatitis, a serious pancreatic inflammation, may occur; if symptoms like abdominal pain, vomiting, or loss of appetite arise, visit a medical facility immediately. This medication should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, or in cases of hypersensitivity to the drug or its components. In patients with reduced kidney function, the drug concentration may increase, and dose adjustments are necessary along with regular kidney function tests. If this medication is taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so blood sugar levels should be closely monitored and dosage adjusted as necessary. Rarely, joint pain or skin blistering disorders may occur, so inform a physician if these symptoms appear. Use of this medication is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and safety in children or adolescents under 18 has not been established. In cases of overdose, general emergency treatment may be required, and it may be partially removed by hemodialysis, so follow the medical staff's instructions. This medication has minimal interactions with other drugs, but it is advisable to consult a doctor if taking specific medications.
