Efficacy & effects

Improvement in blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes

  • Difficulty in blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes
View approved original text

This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It may be administered alone at the start of treatment, or in combination with metformin if blood sugar control is inadequate with monotherapy. Furthermore, if sufficient control is not achieved with other monotherapies like sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, this medication is utilized to enhance the effect. For various combination therapies where blood sugar control is insufficient, additional administration of sitagliptin is helpful for blood sugar management. This medication is a valuable treatment option for managing type 2 diabetes.
