View approved original text

This medicine helps lower high total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo-B protein, and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It also increases HDL-cholesterol levels, known as good cholesterol, improving lipid balance in the blood. This treatment is used in conjunction with diet and plays an important role in preventing cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, this drug effectively regulates cholesterol and lipid levels to help maintain healthy blood vessels.

For adults, the usual starting dose of Pitavastatin Calcium is 1 to 2 milligrams taken once daily. Precautions

This drug is used to lower cholesterol levels and should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to patients allergic to any components of this medication, those with severe liver dysfunction, patients with myopathy, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children. Additionally, patients with renal dysfunction, a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, elderly patients, and those with hypothyroidism should use this drug with caution. In particular, the risk of side effects such as muscle damage or renal function deterioration may increase when taken with other drugs, so it is essential to consult a physician or pharmacist. During treatment with this drug, unusual symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, abdominal pain, rash, and itching may occur, and if these symptoms arise, medical personnel must be notified immediately. Regular liver function tests and blood tests should be conducted, and if any abnormalities are found, treatment may be discontinued. This drug should not be administered to pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, nor to breastfeeding women, and its safety has not been confirmed in children. Care should be taken regarding drug interactions, especially with concomitant use of cyclosporine, fibrate drugs, niacin, and erythromycin, as serious side effects can occur, so co-administration should be avoided. When taking this drug, diet and exercise therapy should be combined, and regular blood lipid level tests should be performed to verify treatment effectiveness. In elderly patients, the risk of side effects may be higher, so dose adjustment and caution are necessary. Finally, this drug should be kept out of reach of children, and it should not be stored in a different container than its original packaging.
