In other words, this medication serves as a treatment that aids in improving blood sugar control.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 20 mg once daily for monotherapy or combination therapy. It can be taken regardless of meals. Dosage adjustments are not necessary for patients with renal impairment or mild to moderate hepatic impairment.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals who are allergic to the active ingredients or other components of this medication should avoid it. Additionally, it is not appropriate for patients with type 1 diabetes or those in a state of diabetic ketoacidosis or coma. Patients with severe infections or those undergoing surgery, or who have severe trauma may need insulin treatment instead of this medication. This medication should be used with caution in patients with severely impaired liver function or heart failure. It is particularly not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. Furthermore, patients taking sulfonylureas or insulin are at risk of hypoglycemia, so caution is needed. Be careful in situations that can lead to hypoglycemia, such as poor nutritional status, skipping meals, excessive exercise, or alcohol consumption. Individuals with a history of abdominal surgery or bowel obstruction, as well as those with cardiac arrhythmias or heart disease, should also exercise caution when using this medication. If severe abdominal pain or vomiting symptoms such as acute pancreatitis occur while taking this medication, medical attention should be sought immediately. This medication may cause side effects including hypoglycemia, constipation, liver function abnormalities, interstitial pneumonia, skin rash, and acute pancreatitis. Especially when taken with other diabetes medications, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase. If hypoglycemic symptoms occur, appropriate measures such as consuming foods containing sugar should be taken, and glucose may also be required. This medication is not recommended for pregnant women, and in breastfeeding cases, careful judgment should be exercised. It is advisable not to use this medication in children where safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients should be observed closely while taking this medication as their physical functions may be diminished. In the case of overdose, standard treatment should be initiated, and additional treatment may be required as necessary. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and transferring it to other containers should be avoided. Patients should fully understand the symptoms of hypoglycemia and how to manage them while taking this medication, and caution is required when performing tasks that need concentration, such as driving or operating machinery. Additionally, if symptoms such as severe joint pain or blistering of the skin occur, immediate consultation with a doctor should be sought. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, it is important to inform the healthcare provider of any medications being taken, especially when used with insulin, sulfonylureas, certain antiarrhythmic drugs, and specific antifungal agents.
